2012 Season - Week 24

A week is a long time in the BUMS

Attached is the favourite chart of the year giving a graphical view of your position in the league table each week. Daz led the Premiership after week one, then plunged to fifth the following week but by week six he was back at the top and never relinquished his lead. Johnnie and Chief squabbled over the runner-up spot with Chief finally securing it on the final week. At the bottom the three who went down (Craig, Marcus and Dave G) spent much of the season in the bottom three, but despite his climb out of the drop zone in week 14 Craig slipped back in as both Mark (week 14) and Cheryl (week 15) finally climbed clear. In the end Mark ended up safe by just 5 points from Craig. In the closest finish in BUMS history we had to go to a Wildcard Weekend tie-break to decide the 2012 Conference Champion as Aaron outscored George. With Andy H finishing third we have to feel sorry for Dave G who scored 32 points in weeks 13 and 14 which dropped him from the top spot to fourth and he was unable to recover. How high did you fly- how low did you go? Trading Day – Is It Pointless? You’ve seen how you did on a weekly basis but could it have been so different. The analysis is in (and attached). The key gainer was Cheryl, mainly because her original kicker (Nate Kaeding) went down with an injury in week 3 and didn’t come back until week 16. Without trading him at TD1 she would have lost the 86 points she gained from Baltimore rookie Justin Tucker and she would have been bottom of the Premiership instead of sixth. Without Trading Days Marcus would have stayed up as his changes only netted him 5 points while Craig improved by 81. The top four all remained in the same positions as Daz and Ron changed no-one Chief benefited by just 5 points while Johnnie’s changes actually cost him 18 points (a shock for the man who wins championships based on his Trading Day skills). Without Trading Days David S. would have replaced Andy H in the promotion zone, Stampy didn’t trade but H improved his team by 42 points (mainly after he replaced an injured Jacksonville Jaguar running back Maurice Jones-Drew with Arizona’s Beanie Wells).
